Who Is Sallie Bly?

Stacey Nau-Welch

Stacey Nau-Welch was born in Southern California but has been in Texas since 1976. She began beading crystal and glass then discovered the wondrous world of natural material beads like semi-precious stones, shells and pearl beads.

Then came Silver Clay, an arena that allowed her to combine all of these and flourish in many new directions.

She has taken jewelry making instruction in beading, sterling silver fabrication and Silver Clay under Anna Noyce, Ruth Roberson, Sherri Perkins and received her Silver Clay Certification under Sallie Bly.

Artist Statement- "I love teaching because with each student I get to see the art form from a completely new perspective. I often learn a new twist on an old technique. Artists are never a finished work. Therefore I believe that teaching adds to my depth & experience as well as theirs."

"My studio is called Refining Works Studio. The definition of refining is v. to purify by removing unwanted material: to improve.*

When we fire Silver Clay, we use a kiln or a torch to burn away all the organic additives to leave .999% pure silver. All through our lifetime, God will use experiences and our daily lives to shape the people he intends us to be."
