Keum-Boo

The ancient Korean art of Keum-Boo will be taught using steel burnishers and a hot plate. We will burnish on 24K gold to your piece. Freshly fired Art Clay Silver offers the perfect pallet to adhere the gold foil.

 Introduction to Silver Clay

Get an introduction to the fun and excitement of making your own jewelry. You will have the opportunity to create as many as four pieces of jewelry while learning the basics of metal clay skills using lump, syringe and paste forms of the clay. You will learn how to texture, decorate, shape and torch fire your piece.

 Enameling on Silver Clay

Take silver clay to another level. In this workshop you will learn how to properly fire your piece to successfully enamel it. After creating the piece to be enameled you will learn how to shake on and pack the pigment to achieve your desired colors and designs. You are only limited by your imagination.

Mold Making

Learn how to make beautiful earrings or pendants. After learning how to make detailed molds you will make earring or pendants of you own design. Attention to finishing and polishing techniques will be taught including liver-of-sulfur.

 Ring Making

Learn how to make rings using different methods such as rolling, coiling and molding. We will make thin bands and thick bands. Simple stone setting techniques will be taught as well.

Six Multi Technique Class

This class is for all levels of metal clay artists. Some of the students will learn the basics such as leaf painting, rolling on texture and cutting and shaping. They will learn how to form and attach bails and add patinas. Learning how to torch fire with a simple kitchen torch will be taught. Other students will learn to enamel on silver clay, form toggle clasps and tube beads, water etch with a wax resist then add color with epoxy. We will also learn how to solder on silver clay and make hinges.

 Teen Classes

There are several classes during the summer for teens and younger children. Teens 13 and up have the opportunity to learn various methods of jewelry construction including metal clay techniques. This is a wonderful opportunity for teens in the Dallas area. It is unusual to find quality art classes for teens.
